The contours are derived from patterns found repeatedly in nature, but viewers see different things.  It is made of 2 different handmade air dry clays and is unsealed.  Because of this, some of the parts actually move slightly over time (years) with the absorbtion and expulsion of atmospheric moisture and gravity.  If it does so in an undesirable way, rotating to a different orientation is the recommended remedy.  It was designed with shadowplay in mind, good lighting will get the most out of this, but not sunlight as that is harsh on almost all artwork.  This is not sealed or UV protected.
